Monthly Highlight
Steeped in history, the eternity ring is related closely to the traditional wedding band and embodies a custom that can be traced through centuries of romantic tradition, even as far back as 2000BC. An eternity ring is a continuous gem set band, representing never-ending love and commitment and is often given to mark a significant wedding anniversary. In more recent years, for many it has become the gift of choice to celebrate the arrival of a baby, extending the sentiment of eternal love to embrace children as well. An eternity ring is usually set with jewels all the way around the band, a ‘full eternity ring’, but there are also ‘half-eternity’ rings where the stones are set only to the front.

Jeppe Leon tips for buying an eternity ring:
Gems
Eternity rings are usually set with diamonds, sapphires or rubies. There is a reason for this apart from their inherent beauty and value: these are ‘hard’ gems which is especially important for eternity rings which are exposed to wear from all sides.
Stones such as emeralds or aquamarines for example, are more fragile and tend to become easily damaged in the setting of an eternity ring.
Gold or platinum
If the eternity ring is likely to be worn next to the wedding band and engagement ring, then the metal chosen should be the same as these other rings. Being the harder metal, platinum eventually wears away at gold, so keep all the rings in matching metals.
Style
There are no ‘rules’ about how an eternity ring should look, with choices ranging from traditional settings to sleek contemporary types. Consider the style of other pieces of jewellery owned by the recipient, possibly choosing a look that works well with the setting, cut and colour of the gems in the engagement ring.
Fit
Being fully set with stones, it is not always straightforward to re-size an eternity ring. So if it is being bought as a surprise, do make sure that you know the correct fingersize.
Half-eternity rings can be sized readily and are an ideal choice if there is any uncertainty regarding finger measurements.
